The law changed
ADA Title II now covers your website
In April 2024 the Department of Justice finalized rules requiring every state and local government website to meet WCAG 2.1 AA. In April 2026 the DOJ extended the dates by one year: entities serving 50,000+ people must comply by April 26, 2027. Smaller entities and special districts have until April 26, 2028.
Real legal exposure
OCR complaints and private lawsuits against districts and municipalities keep rising. Reported settlements range from about $19,000 (Orange County, FL) to $110,000 (Nassau County, NY), before remediation costs.
Hard deadline, ongoing obligation
The one-year extension is the last one you should count on. After the date passes, a non-conforming site is a federal civil rights violation, and every new flyer, PDF or news post can introduce new barriers.
Affordable fix
Most districts and towns can monitor and remediate for under $599 a year. That is less than one hour of ADA consulting.
Simple process
How it works
Scan
Enter your URL. We crawl your site with a real browser and axe-core, the industry-standard accessibility engine, checking every page against WCAG 2.2 AA.
Grade
Get a letter grade (A–F), a 0–100 score and plain-English descriptions of every issue. No jargon, no 300-page PDF.
Fix
Follow plain-English fix steps for every issue (CMS-specific instructions on the Fix plan). Mark issues fixed, re-scan, and keep the documentation your board expects.
See what you get
Plain-English reports, not consultant jargon
Every scan produces a letter grade and a prioritized list of issues with fix instructions anyone on your team can follow.

Questions
Frequently asked
Does a passing grade mean we are ADA compliant?
No tool can certify compliance. Automated testing with axe-core finds roughly a third to a half of WCAG issues, with very few false positives. A high grade means the common, high-impact barriers are gone and you have documentation of good-faith monitoring. Manual testing and accessible content practices are still part of the job.
Which standard do you test against?
WCAG 2.2 Level A and AA success criteria (which include all of 2.1 AA, the standard named in the DOJ rule). Each issue shows the exact success criterion.
We are under 50,000 people. Does this apply to us?
Yes. Public entities under 50,000 and all special districts (library, water, transit, fire, park districts) must conform by April 26, 2028. Entities serving 50,000 or more must conform by April 26, 2027. Both dates were extended by one year in the DOJ's April 2026 interim final rule.
Can we pay with a purchase order?
Yes. Comply and Fix plans can be paid by PO or invoice (net 30, check or ACH). Use the 'Need a PO or invoice?' link at signup and we will send a W-9 and invoice the same day.
Will the scan slow down or affect our site?
No. We load pages one at a time from a single browser, like one visitor, and identify ourselves as PillarScanBot. If your firewall blocks headless browsers, allow-list our user agent and re-scan.
What about PDFs and documents?
The crawler scans HTML pages. It flags links to PDFs so you know where documents live, but document remediation is outside the scope of automated scanning today.
We are a county health department / hospital district. Anything else to know?
Yes. Recipients of HHS funding are also covered by the HHS Section 504 web rule: May 11, 2027 for entities with 15 or more employees, May 10, 2028 for smaller ones. The technical standard is the same WCAG 2.1 AA.
